Review

The movie shows the changes in the past 17 years by situating the existing issue in Hong Kong. The social phenomena is shown by a certain characterize roles in an comedy way. In the movie the role played by Eason Chen(Jackie) said that, “現在還那有蠱惑仔,高登網友就一大堆”, meaning that there is no more wise guy but lots of “Golden Brother”. This reflects the situation in Hong Kong Whereby peoples usually find help from internet rather than someone close to them. They relay very much on the online source. Another scene is where Kam is contacting client through different apps like Whatsapp, WeChat and Line. It is the modern way of communication, so much different form the past. This state of communicating has correspondingly make Gordon, representing the people of “Old Hong Kong”, feels confuse and uncertain. In contrast, Wu Loo (Ivana Wong) is a character that featuring the “New Hong Kong People” in “New Hong Kong”. She speaks with a Chinese accent, dressed old-fashioned and is willing to do everything for money. Even though the reality of her is a pure Hong Kong people, the reason for her to act as one that comes from China is to make her-self outstanding from the other prostitute in order to attract more client. This is the identity of Hong Kong people, something that they feel common. Kam is the only character that has seen all the different stages of Hong Kong. She is the symbol of a lower class that has been fighting for changes. This movie brings a lot of collective memories from the period of colonial to the return in China.
